Local History Workshops with AHDR

The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research is welcoming students, researchers, artists and others interested in exploring Nicosia’s multi-cultural and multi-faceted past through local history workshops.  This will be a hands-on, collaborative learning experience where participants will be introduced to oral history and ethnographic techniques, video-art for historical learning and other topics. Participants will also work with workshop facilitators Susan Pattie and Yael Navaro-Yashin in designing independent research projects that will use the Arabahmet neighborhood of Nicosia as a starting point to address wider issues of the role of memory in enhancing understanding of the past.

The deadline for submitting applications is 9 May 2012. The workshops, beginning on 28 May, are being held in parallel to the “Speaking to One Another” international exhibition that begins on 11 May  (www.speakingtooneanother.org).
