CCMC's 'On the Road' training in Limassol!

The Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) is continuing its ‘On the Road’ training series by offering Social Networking and Blogging workshops for its members in Limassol on 16 September 2011. As part of its ongoing mission to build the communications and media skills of civil society, CCMC has been delivering dedicated training to its members in various towns and villages around Cyprus.

The ‘On The Road’ series, which started in 2010, complements CCMC’s Nicosia-based training by offering media education in other locales.

CCMC's 'Easy Newsletter Creation' workshop 27 September 2011

This half-day training course will equip you with the skills and know-how to create your own professional-looking electronic newsletters that you can send to your fellow campaigners, members, activists and more. CCMC training goes 'On the Road'

CCMC is taking its training 'On the Road' this summer with a series of workshops around the island. After its successful video training in Lefke in 2010, CCMC member the Environmental Society of Lefke were able to shoot their own videos and disseminate them through the social networking sites that CCMC helped to create. As a follow-up to the first workshop, CCMC has already provided stills photography training in Lefke on Thursday 30 June 2011. The training focused on basic photography and editing as well as using photos as a tool for online activism. This was followed by video workshops for teenagers at the Peace Players bicommunal summer camp in Agros on 29 July. Coming next will be social media workshops for our members in Limassol on 13 and 14 September. Stay tuned for more announcements about CCMC training 'On the Road'.

Unique training opportunities with the Thomson Foundation and CCMC

The Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) is proud to announce its partnership with the Thomson Foundation in providing a four-day Media Literacy training course for civil society in March 2011 and a five day multimedia and Online Journalism course for journalists in March 2011.

Media Literacy course FOR CIVIL SOCIETY 13-16 March 2011

CCMC is inviting applications from civil society to attend this four day intensive course, run by a Thomson Foundation trainer and taking place at the Cyprus Community Media Centre in Nicosia. The course is designed to engage civil society organisations with the basic principles of advocacy, through the use of the Internet, face-to-face briefings and campaign planning and to provide civil society organisations with a strong foundation on which to campaign and engage with local media, across the island.

This specialised training is being offered to civil society with support from UNDP-Action for Cooperation and Trust, and is free of charge to successful applicants. Click here for an application form for the Media Literacy for Civil Society course.

Multimedia and Online Journalism course FOR JOURNALISTS 17-21 March 2011

CCMC is inviting applications from journalists to attend this five day intensive course, run by a Thomson Foundation trainer and taking place at the Cyprus Community Media Centre in Nicosia. Want to improve your multimedia skills, deepen your career prospects and learn how to keep pace with the fast changing world of online media? The course will provide journalists with a unique professional development opportunity, covering subjects such as digital photography, audio production and editing, creating audio slideshows, recording video interviews and the possibilities of multimedia online. This specialised training is being led by Dan Mason, former editor of award-winning daily newspapers. No previous online skills are required but proficiency in English is a must.
