The Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC) is exactly what it says on the tin - a community media centre, set up to encourage community-led communications and media in Cyprus and to support local organisations and NGOs in their communications work. We also want to help bridge gaps and enhance relationships between the mass media and civil society through the creation and broadcasting of productions that contribute to multiculturalism and diversity.
CCMC was set up to encourage community media in Cyprus, diversify the media landscape and support local organisations and groups in communicating their message to the public. We do this in many different ways, whether it’s training, dedicated support, equipment loan, creating videos, taking photographs, holding public events, setting up online forums or even just being on the end of the phone, offering advice to our members.
The Cyprus Community Media Centre opened its doors in December 2009. We were privileged to have three members of the eminent 'Elders' launch the centre - Lakhdar Brahimi, Jimmy Carter and Desmond Tutu.
We are open to new members and we particularly encourage applications from organisations working on intercommunal and multicultural initiatives. To read more about becoming a member, visit Join page.
To become a member of CCMC and benefit from our training, support and facilities, please complete our membership form, which is available on the 'Join' section of our website.
CCMC provides productions, training, equipment loan and advice to its members and individuals. We support local organisations, community groups and individuals in communicating their message to a wider audience in a number of ways: through training, support, equipment loan, creating videos, taking photographs, holding public events, setting up online forums, or offering tailored advice.
At present, CCMC support for its members is free of charge, as is our training and equipment loan. Nominal fees may apply for membership and training in future. Civil society organisations can also book the CCMC space for meetings/events free of charge.
The Cyprus Community Media Centre is located in the heart of the buffer zone in Nicosia, Cyprus. You can find us in the grounds of Ledra Palace. Contact us for a map/directions!
CCMC works in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme - Action for Cooperation and Trust in Cyprus.
Our internship programme provides extensive hands-on production training and experience for qualified students and individuals. Interns are selected through a review process of your past experience and availability. CCMC is grateful for the support of its volunteers and interns and we will consider all requests for internships and volunteering at CCMC on an individual basis. You are very welcome to get in touch with your CV.
Unfortunately we can't help with translations. However, we do ensure that as much of our own content as possible is available in English, Greek and Turkish.
CCMC videos are available on our website under the 'CCMC Presents' section and also on our Youtube Channel. Stay posted for television broadcasts coming up.
If you are a member of CCMC and have received training in our equipment, we will be happy to support requests for equipment loan, subject to availability.
The CCMC meeting space is available for booking by non-governmental organisations, civil society organisations and individuals. Please contact us to check the availability of the space for your event or meeting and we will do our best to support your request.
