ASTRA's Journalism Conference 30-31 March 2012

Astra Radio Station (92.8FM) is organising a two-day journalism conference entitled 'Troubles around the microphone' on 30 and 31 March at the University of Nicosia. The conference will focus on practices and methods of transferring news using social media, the internet, citizen journalism, and the coverage of the Mari explosion last July. OutdoorFest 2012 in Büyükkonuk

A world of travelling - Milia event

Yeia Milia are organising an all-day meeting on Travelling, to take place this Saturday 31 March at the Youth Hostel in Chrysaliniotissa, central Nicosia. The symposium will start at 9:30am with various speakers, followed by three interactive workshops on how to plan, live and capture the travel experience. Spaces are limited, so please get in touch with Milia here if you'd like to be involved. Also, don't forget to bring along your own travel tales, photographs, objects, oddities and curiosities, as well as laptops where possible!


Future Together celebration event

Future Together would like to invite you to a celebration event under the title “When was the last time. .?” to celebrate its achievements so far and launch its newest publications and website.

This event will be held on the 27th of March, 2012, Tuesday at the Home for Cooperation located in Nicosia, Buffer Zone at 17:30. The celebratory event will take the form of a cocktail reception. As implementers of Future Together, ETEK and KTMMOB will be honoured to host this event and stress, once again, the importance of public participation for the future of the island.


Launch of AHDR's groundbreaking educational materials

On Monday 12 March 2012 at 16:00-19:30 the Association for Historical Dialogue & Research (AHDR) are launching their groundbreaking supplementary educational materials produced in the context of the AHDR’s Multiperspectivity and Intercultural Dialogue in Education (MIDE) project , funded by UNDP-ACT. The event will take place at the Home for Cooperation in the UN buffer zone, Nicosia, opposite Ledra Palace Hotel. These innovative materials, aimed specifically at history educators, researchers, young people as well as anyone interested in history and history teaching, have been prepared by teams of experts, comprising of members and friends of the AHDR from Cyprus and abroad, and can be used in a variety of educational settings. AHDR’s aim is that such materials will help to foster multiperspectivity and intercultural dialogue, developing historical understanding and critical thinking. The educational materials cover key topic areas on Cyprus History, and will provide teachers with varied resources that focus on multiperspective approaches to the teaching and learning of history.Key topic areas include: Thinking Historically about Missing Persons, Learning to Investigate the History of Cyprus through Artefacts, The Ottoman Period in Cyprus, Our Children Our Games, Introducing Oral History and Home for Cooperation.
