communitymediaeventinvitationeng111012fWithin the framework of its advocacy campaign for greater recognition of Community Media in Cyprus, the Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC), in partnership with the Nicosia Municipality, have the pleasure of co-hosting a public talk by the UNESCO Chair for Community Media, Professor Vinod Pavarala, taking place on Thursday 11 October at The Shoe Factory, 304 Ermou Street, Nicosia, at 8pm.

With a background in both the academic study of Community Media, as well as a career in activism for policy change in his native India spanning the past decade, Professor Pavarala will speak about the work of UNESCO in the field of participatory media, and offer his perspective on how practical steps can be taken towards strengthening the links between Community Media and local authorities in Cyprus. The event will be followed by a cocktail reception.

This event is organised under the auspices of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
